  1. Good show! I feel like you nailed it when discussing the balance between period pieces like Stranger Things just throwing nostalgia in your face and actually using the setting to tell a compelling story. I feel like a lot of these kinds of stories will become more commonplace as things like Stranger Things and, in the movies, It show there’s an audience, and even a logic to using different time frames. It helps set thrillers and horror films in a time and place when cell phones don’t have to be explained away. Communication and lack of communication are key points in almost any horror genre and it’s difficult to throw the cell phones away to make a believable story. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks for the kind words, Stephen! Great point about how period setting helps with what has become the obligatory scene about the cell phone. Losing it, breaking it, no signal, etc.
